Red Rover – the latest stop-motion short animation by Astrid Goldsmith – is a sci-fi action-adventure film about a diminutive race of Martian rock-beasts whose way of life is threatened by the arrival an exploratory rover from Earth. The score combines traditional orchestration with other-worldly electronic sounds.

The music was partly composed while artist-in-resident at the former home of Imogen Holst in Aldeburgh, courtesy of Wild Plum Arts and the Britten-Pears Foundation. The composition process was also facilitated with support from Sound and Music’s Francis Chagrin Award.
